There are games that you play to win and for no fault of your own you come up short, then there are games where you don't deserve to be the victors but somehow with luck and heart you manage to get points, then there are the games like your Saturday Dec.8th game vs Gorge#1.
You lads came out well reving up your cylinders to play on a hard and icy field [we hope Ollis is doing better] where the ball moves faster than on a turf field. You did a lot of things right and justifiably deserved to be ahead with the first goal of the game [Mario was happy that you did not let the Gorge team open the scoring!].
Somewhere between the goal and the 25th minute you had your chances but we won't go into 'what if' situations because a good team does not do that, a good team looks to learn how to be better. Aaron had a nice quick release that skimmed off the top left cross bar..exactly what the coaches are looking for.... SHOTS! lots of THEM! You can't outscore your opponents if you don't shoot!
But this Gorge team came to play and they played well! So well that their coach correctly spotted 5 missing minutes in the first half of game time!
The second half saw another cross bar but too few shots and as a result too few goals ;)
Near the last 10 minutes of the game the LakeHill lads where feeling the effects of something was it the cold? was it frustration? not sure but the drive was not there that we have seen in past games against strong opponents so it was to be expected that Gorge would capitalize and they did to hand the LakeHill AllSports team their first draw of the season!
No longer can the boys claim to be leading all lakeHill u12 teams in the wins column (the u12G Silver girls have more wins this season!)
But with Coach Peter and Mario and the Team 'Ultras' [ Supporters] we are confident the lads will regroup in time for next weeks toughest match of the season! Lets hope we get to play as the Braefoot fields are looking ready for the Winter break! Luckily this game is scheduled for PSC where Blue Heron is in good shape but if it freezes is even more of a ice rink than Braefoot was!
