Quote of the Week

When he was a boy Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor practiced his heading by hanging a ball from a piece of string and shortening the string every time he managed to touch it (Guardian).

Great start to the new year lads!

Despite the first goal being scored by the opponents (glad Mario did not see that) the lads quickly turned on their motors and the cylinders starting firing...more importantly the fans witnessed some excellent playmaking! All the hard "between-season" UVIC practices where yielding great results with the score quickly reaching 4-1 within a span of under 7 minutes before the time was even 9am! What the fans saw was excellent use of width, great crisp passing and solid defensive work! Oh and did we mention the shots where well placed and on (in) target! Well done lads!

Spring Teams

We are not yet sure where Coach Pasta will land this Spring/Summer he has said he is committed to his Dragons through to the 2010/2011 season when his current contract comes up for renewal. In past seasons he has also taken on the DDC and LISA Academy development teams. We are still waiting for an announcement from LISA on who this years u12B Team Coach will be. Other Academies are also having Spring/Summer teams this year including the good folks at Brett Hyslops WORLD CUPS and also EddieM http://www.emsports.ca of EMSports! So motivated players have lots of options! Mario has indicated he plans to return to coaching the 'Braefoot Blue team' this Summer in anticipation for next years trip to Italia!

For those considering a summer tour of the mainland and possibly the Baker Blast with LISA don't forget the upcoming tryout/evaluation dates: HERE

In addition Mario or Peter may be entering a team (or two) in this years United Spring League run at Hampton Park from mid-April till the end of June!

Play for the Highlanders!

..you now have your career targets set for 2016! You can play for the newly formed Victoria (er Langford) Highlanders FC! We wish Sir AlexC lots of success with his new franchise! The Dragons will be there on opening night to cheer the team on (in 2009)!

(actually reading the press announcement indicates that the Highlanders intend to set up a Youth division similar to the SuperY programme run by LISA... could create new playing opportunities in the coming seasons so continue to work hard lads..)

Coach Pasta stays put!

Hopefully he is well rested for this weekends match vs BaysU! 8.am at Braefoot#2

greetings from Mexico...

Mario sends his greetings...

Coach Pasta in demand...

LakeHill's acting technical director narrowly missed out on the FA job when they came looking for an italian to coach Becks and co. Now he is mysteriously out of town working on his "tan" we are told... but there have been reports of Coach Pasta considering trading in his Red and White stripes for the northern rock types (no not the hampton park edition!!!!)... and if he misses out on this latest chance to coach a big club , well maybe a local rep team will come looking for his services....

we'd rather he stays with Coach Peter the Dragons and preps their phrasebook skills for Italia!

Game tapes with Coach Peter

During the recent "Team" party Coach Peter pulled out the Super8mm films of the LakeHill u12B Gold team playing the Peninsula team and went over some of the finer points of the game ;) *the team that watches together stays together* :)

weekend footy on the tele

The English Football season is one of the few leagues that takes no 'winter break' (unlike the LISA u12B season) and so we are lucky to get some games on the TV but with Setanta having most of the choice games it is rare that we get to see all the top teams play on 'free/cable tv' but this weekend we get to once again turn on FOX SPORTS WORLD Canada to see some interesting matches! So look at the TV schedule and have your digital records ready! Chelsea-QPR Live @ 7am and ManU-Aston Villa (live at noon!!!) (Go Villians Go!) details here

[Villans lost to a strong ManU squad 0-2, if you watched this game you probably thought 'if I am on Peters defensive line I sure hope Rooney does not "nutmeg" me the way the AV defender was nutmeged'! ]
