Tevez?

well, I don't think CarlosT is a '96 but if he has a relative who wants to live in the Lakehill Catchment for the u14 season, maybe as an exchange student? I am sure Mario and the Dragons can use an extra striker or two for next season....

Pure Entertainment...

A good game on a sunny (but cold) day is always a delight to watch and Sunday's exhibition vs Calgary Foothills u14Gold Girls was just that... fun to watch! The guys (+Emily) where in command of the game from the get-go however that does not mean they where not challenged! Calgary has a number of provincal class players in their lineup, especially Nr 21 and Nr 20! Just ask Mitch, he probably still has a uniroyal pattern running down his back as #21- decided the quickest path to the ball was to run a straight line OVER Mitch! Bodies did fly and often it was the guys! Aidens brother scored a Beckham-like spot kick from 30 yards to the upper post corner...amazing accuracy! Emily worked hard and set up one (maybe 2?) of the Dragons' three goals. Even our keeper took a turn as striker and despite a break-away was thwarted by the CFFC keeper! Lots of good play from Liam, Matteo, Justin, our #6 :), Jaxion and Dexter to name just a few of the boys who took their energy up a level against the quick paced CFFC team!
Thanks to both teams for an entertaining game!

Quote of the week.....

Fans were surprised when health and safety chiefs put up signs at Southampton's FA Cup clash with Manchester United warning of "flying footballs". One Saints fan said: "The number of shots we've had this season, I don't think there's much danger of being hit by any of our players."

Indoor Tourney resume.....

Congratulations to the Dragons who participated in the weekend BaysU indoor tournament! You all got lots of touches on the ball and a lot of goals were scored (at both ends of the field! ;)

What we saw was a very different game from outdoor soccer.. in the end neither the Dragons or the Lakers were a match for the DDC collection! My observation was that you started every game well and usually got ahead but could not sustain the pressure. Unfortunately I missed the 4th game vs PLSC where a total of 11 goals were scored in what was described to be a thrilling game! In the final as expected the DDC team walloped their opposition.

On the girls side the CB team with guest Monique from our Lakehill Reds u13 team went undefeated with a convincing win in the Championship game over Gorge that saw two goals from CB Goalies scored against their opponents!

Two other lakehill teams made the finals and won!!! The u15Gold Girls and the u16 Gold Boys (the boys went undefeated in their division)!!

Back to training tonight at UVIC to prepare for our final few games then we are registered to play in the annual GHSA Tournament in April so lots of soccer remaining on this season!

Quote of the Week

We're not scoring much, and that's always a worry as you need goals to win games.

Craig Brewster points out the obvious after Inverness Caledonian Thistle lose 3-1 to Dundee United.

last league game of 2008....

Coming off of a much needed result vs the islanders, how will Mario's lads fire up all 11 cylinders? Stay tuned...

Ferry Trip

Salt Spring has joined the league and our bye has been replaced with an away game! By all accounts the lads played well , scored some goals (pleasant change), had opportunities and offside calls galore! It`s not the amount of goals that count its how your finish your chances! Still lots of work required... Mario is planning a `finishing school`for the lads in 2009!

Lakehill players need to....

By all accounts the lads played very well against GHSA on Saturday but the finish was not there! Chins up and prepare for the coming weekend! We have a good feeling about the next game!

Great Tuesday Practice!

Thanks to the Dragons and the Reds! The Tuesday night mixed practice was great! I know the Girls loved kickin' butt and the Guys wanted to outrun the girls! You are two skilled teams and the coaching staff will look for more opportunities to train you all together!

Next up ...the Guys prepare for their Saturday 11am home game against GHSA, while the Gold Girls are challenged to a full field game on Thursday by another Boys team....

Coach...

Q: What does this person have in common with Mario (besides they are both Italian)?

A: Two very talented teams!

(you thought the answer was neither would be coaching Lakehill this weekend didn`t you ;) we'll have to see who is behind the bench this weekend)

quote of the week...

"The way the game's going, we'll be playing with slippers on shortly and there will be no tackling whatsoever."

coulda, shoulda..didn't....

chance #1
chance #2
biggest chance! (over the bar)

...early on we had plenty of goal scoring chances! At this level of play and with the amount of skill on this team we just need to bury our opportunities!
